Past Winner Spotlight: Peter Alagona’s 1973 Holden HQ GTS Tribute
Peter Alagona from Victoria is now the proud owner of this stunning 1973 Holden HQ GTS Tribute, valued at $145,000. Dressed in a head turning Azzure Blue with blackouts, this HQ is a perfect blend of classic style and modern performance.
Inside, it’s been treated to all new black long grain and houndstooth trim, giving it that classic GTS look with a fresh feel.
Under the bonnet is a brand new Blueprint 400 cubic inch small block Chev, pushing out a healthy 520 horsepower and 515 ft/lb of torque thanks to a hydraulic roller camshaft. It breathes through ceramic coated Pacemaker 4 into 1 headers feeding a twin 3 inch exhaust, giving it a tough note that matches the power.
The power gets sent to the ground through a manualised built Turbo 350 with a 3500rpm TCE converter, controlled by a B&M Carbon Stealth Ratchet shifter for crisp, precise shifts. A new GJ Drivelines 3 inch tailshaft ties it all together.
Down the back, it’s built to handle the power with an Altra9 shortened 9 inch diff, fitted with 3.9 gears, an Eaton Truetrac centre, and 31 spline billet axles. It’s been mini tubbed to the rails to fit the serious 275/60 rear boots, and sits on genuine old school satin Centerline wheels, with 5.5 inch fronts and deep 8.5 inch rears.
Handling is dialled in with McDonald Bros adjustable trailing arms, ensuring this HQ is just as sharp in the corners as it is in a straight line.
Peter’s HQ GTS Tribute is the perfect mix of old school muscle and modern engineering, a real standout wherever it goes. Congratulations to Peter Alagona, another past winner now rolling in a true Aussie classic!
