Past Winner Spotlight: Rob Fraser’s Holden VL Walkinshaw Tribute
Rob Fraser from Western Australia is the proud new owner of our 600HP Holden VL Commodore Walkinshaw, finished in Panorama Silver and valued at $130,000.
This VL was a standout at the 2026 Melbourne Motor Show and drew plenty of attention on the Tuff Streeters stand. With its Walkinshaw body kit, tough stance, LS power and manual gearbox, it had the kind of presence that stopped people in their tracks all weekend. Now delivered to WA, it also marks a big moment for our Western Australian members and entrants after a run of winners from the East coast.
Built from the ground up, this VL is far more than a tidy tribute. It underwent a full bare metal rebuild and now runs a 6.0L LS V8 with a performance camshaft, Shaun’s Custom billet Group A style twin throttle bodies, Castlemaine Rod Shop LS1 conversion kit, stainless steel extractors and a 2.5” exhaust system.
The driveline is exactly what you want in a tough street car, with a T56 6-speed manual transmission and a BorgWarner LSD differential from a VL Turbo, running a shortened housing and billet axles. Front and rear coilovers, new Whiteline sway bars and a VL V8 brake booster help give the car the stance and control to match the power.
Inside, the VL has been finished with new Walkinshaw-style trim, new carpet, a carpeted boot area and a battery relocated to the boot with a new battery and battery box. It also keeps things properly usable with fully operational air conditioning, including a new compressor, condenser, TX valve and hoses.
The exterior package brings the whole build together, with a new Walkinshaw body kit, new front windscreen, new headlights, new tail lights, Rare Spares rubber kit throughout and 20” Walkinshaw wheels. It looks tough, it drives tough, and it carries the right presence for one of Australia’s most recognisable Commodore shapes.
A huge congratulations to Rob Fraser, our newest WA winner now enjoying a properly built 600HP VL Walkinshaw Tribute.
