Past Winner Spotlight: Rod Hunter’s 700hp Ford XA Falcon
Rod Hunter from New South Wales is the proud owner of this absolute beast, a 9.8 second, nitrous fed Ford XA Falcon that’s pushing 700 horsepower and valued at a whopping $150,000.
Under the bonnet sits a tough 408 cubic inch Clevo solid roller V8 engine, topped with CHI 3V heads and manifold and fed by a Ray Edwards 950cfm carburettor. Exhaust gases exit through a set of twin TIG welded 3 inch stainless steel exhausts, ensuring it sounds every bit as tough as it goes.
The power is sent through a full manual C10 transmission with a 5200 stall converter, and out back sits a Strange 9 inch differential with a TrueTrac centre, 4.11 gears and billet axles, all built to handle the serious grunt.
It’s been through a full rotisserie restoration from bare metal, with brand new everything including a Gazzard Brothers mono leaf rear end with sliders and traction bars, Calvert adjustable rear shocks, and Koni 90/10 front shocks for perfect street and strip handling.
This XA rolls on tough WELD AlumaStar wheels with beadlocks, measuring 15×3.5 up front and 15×8 out back, wrapped in 275/60 rear tyres to put the power down. Stopping is sorted with VT Commodore front brakes, ensuring it’s got the whoa to match the go.
Inside, it’s all genuine Ford GT style with a GT dash, steering wheel, bonnet, and brand new trim throughout. There’s even a custom parcel shelf fitted with 6x9s, an amp and a deck, giving it the perfect mix of old-school style and modern touches.
This Falcon is a true showstopper, tough, fast, and built to the highest standard. Congratulations to Rod Hunter, another past winner now tearing up the streets and the strip in one of the baddest XA Falcons around!
