Past Winner Spotlight: Anthony’s Immaculate 1974 LH SLR Torana
Anthony from Victoria scored himself the perfect weekend cruiser, an immaculate 1974 LH SLR Torana, turning heads in its original factory Barbados Green.
This Torana has had the full treatment, with a shaved engine bay and a tough 5 litre VS roller engine. It’s been built with zero decked flat top pistons, VT 304 heads that have been shaved and ported to perfection, and Yella Terra rollers paired with a high rise RPM Edelbrock match ported intake manifold race coated black for a sleek finish.
It breathes through a new 750 Quick Fuel carburettor, while a full MSD distributor and ignition system ensures it’s always firing strong.
The power gets put down through a late model V8 Trimatic with a stage 2 shift kit and a 3,500rpm converter, built to handle up to 650 horsepower. Exhaust is handled by HPC coated Pacemaker headers feeding into a twin 3 inch system that sounds every bit as tough as it looks.
At the back sits a 9 inch disc brake rear end with 3.7 diff gears and a custom made 4 inch tailshaft. Stopping power is boosted with upgraded HQ front calipers and discs, along with braided brake lines for added confidence.
Cooling is sorted with a RaceRadiators aluminium 5 core radiator paired with twin seal fans and a trans cooler to keep everything in check.
It all sits on classic Centerline wheels, perfectly finishing off this stunning build.
Anthony’s Torana is a perfect blend of old-school muscle and modern touches, a true street icon brought back to life and built to be driven. Congratulations to Anthony, another past winner now cruising in this absolute weapon of a Torana!
