Past Winner Spotlight: Craig Craft’s Holden HQ SS
Craig Craft from NSW, is the proud owner of a genuine 1972 Holden HQ SS, valued at $120,000!
This rare machine is one of only 109 HQ SS models ever produced at the Holden Sydney plant, finished in the eye catching Lettuce Alone Green. Built for both the street and strip, it packs a seriously potent LS3 crate engine conversion, featuring an upgraded camshaft, LS7 lifters and pushrods, and roaring through Pacemaker headers into a full 3” dual stainless steel exhaust system.
Power flows through a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, fully manual with a reverse pattern, built by Transmission Specialties in the USA and rated to an astonishing 1200hp. A high stall torque converter is perfectly matched to the engine combo, sending muscle to a Ford 9” rear differential with 35 spline billet axles, an alloy Strange centre, Truetrac LSD, and 4.11:1 gears built by Final Drive, ensuring every ounce of the car’s 600HP is delivered reliably to the pavement.
Stopping power comes courtesy of a Wilwood brake upgrade front and rear, while the stance and traction are dialed in with Weld Classic RT wheels, Out back, the custom 15 x 9” wheels are wrapped in 275/60 Pro Street radial tyres, combining aggressive looks with serious grip.
A huge congratulations to Craig Craft, a past winner now cruising in a true Aussie muscle icon!
