Past Winner Spotlight: Bend Dodds’ 800HP Ford Falcon XY GT
Ben Dodds from Western Australia is the proud new owner of one of the TUFFEST cars we’ve given away yet, an 800HP Ford Falcon XY GT finished in factory Raw Orange and valued at $180,000.
This car was hard to miss at the Melbourne Motor Show. Sitting on display in front of massive crowds across the weekend, the Raw Orange XY pulled serious attention from Ford fans, muscle car lovers and just about anyone who walked past the Tuff Streeters stand. Now, after a quiet run for WA winners, this 800HP street and strip weapon has made the trip west to its new home.
Under the bonnet sits a 443ci Ford Windsor V8 built by BK Race Engines, making a savage 800HP. The combo runs a 1175cfm APD carburettor, Edelbrock Victor intake manifold, Callies crankshaft, Diamond pistons, Oliver conrods and an MSD Grid ignition system.
Power is sent through a fully manualised Ford C4 transmission with a B&M shifter and a serious 6500rpm high stall converter. Out back, it runs a tough Ford 9” differential with 3.7:1 gears and Mark Williams axles, giving the car the driveline strength to match the engine.
The XY sits on Weld AlumaStar wheels, with Calvert Racing rear shocks and a Wilwood front brake upgrade helping round out the package. Finished with factory GT styling, a reverse cowl bonnet, GT interior and Auto Meter gauges, this build has the right mix of classic GT Falcon presence and serious high-horsepower attitude.
