Past Winner Spotlight: David Muir’s White VL Calais Turbo
David Muir from Perth is now rolling in one of the cleanest street builds around, a white VL Calais Turbo fitted with a tough HDT bodykit and powered by an RB30 engine making a solid 337 rear wheel kilowatts.
This Calais features a genuine HDT LE kit and sits on a set of classic genuine HDT Momo Star wheels, giving it that unmistakable 80s street presence.
The engine has been fully rebuilt with new rings and bearings, a head rebuilt by Horsepower Junkie, a Crow TX3 camshaft, Crow valve springs, and ARP head studs for ultimate reliability. Feeding it all is a genuine turbo intake manifold, 6Boost exhaust manifold, and a Pulsar GTX3582 turbo with a Turbosmart 50mm wastegate and braided turbo lines.
Exhaust gases exit through a full 3 inch exhaust and stainless dump pipe, while a custom intercooler kit keeps it all cool.
Power is put down through a shortened VL diff with 3.45 diff gears, 31 spline billet axles, and a mini spool, making sure all that power hits the ground.
Fuel delivery is no issue with a Walbro 460 in-tank fuel pump, braided fuel lines, and a tidy catch can setup. The drivetrain is built to match with an RB25DET R33 gearbox and an NPC single plate clutch for crisp, reliable shifts.
It’s all controlled by a Haltech Elite 750 with a brand new engine loom, and sparked to life by an LS coil kit.
David’s VL Calais Turbo is a stunning mix of 80s luxury and modern street performance, congratulations to David Muir, another past winner now rolling in a true classic turbo Calais!
